INTRODUCTION
OUR MISSION
We are all different, but we all come under the same heading. Every human being is unique and deserves to be equally respected.
Rolnicka is Christian care center providing social, educational, therapeutic, working and rehabilitative services for both children and adults with different levels of disability, as well as to their families in the Tabor region, and especially from the area surrounding town of Sobeslav.
Rolnicka enables to anyone requiring special help to reach their maximum in their personal life, and live there where they can consider themselves at home close to their families and friends. To achieve all this we need your support.
WHAT IS ROLNICKA
Rolnicka is one of the centers of Diacony of the Evangelical Church of the Czech Brethren. The Rolnicka (“Jingle Bell”) was founded in 1993. On the 1st of January 1994 Rolnicka started to offer first service – day care center for 12 children from Sobeslav and its immediate surroundings. Throughout the years, services, as well as number of attendees, have been developing.
Rolnicka is a non-governmental organization that makes efforts to provide complex services for both children and adults with mental and multiple disabilities, and their families. Rolnicka supports integration and an individual approach.
In 2008 Rolnicka was attended by more than 60 children and adults from the age of 3 to 50. They all may use social services provided in the day care center or sheltered housing. Rolnicka also runs a sheltered workshop for disabled employees and a public tearoom – café.
Rolnicka closely cooperates with a local church of ECCB. Minister and the other members of the church are involved in the work of Rolnicka and they supportive in many activities. Minister learn the clinets of Rolnicka and tell them about the Christianity and the spiritual life once a week.
DAY CARE CENTRE
Our day care centre tries to offer such conditions to its attendees that would make them feel comfortable and at the same time would stimulate maximum development of their abilities. Natural contact with the social environment and development of social skills are also supported.
In 2008, the day care center also provided optional services such as transport by Rolnicka minibus, physiotherapy, speech therapy, recuperation and recovery breaks and cannistherapy. The day care centre services are provided in two buildings – in Mrazkova street (which is attended mainly by children) and in our “Adult home“ in Bezdekova street.
SHELTERED HOUSING
The sheltered housing has been provided in the attic of our “Adult home“. At present there are 6 inhabitants (4 women and 2 men) living. They share a kitchen and a living room and they all have their own private bedroom.
Inhabitants of the sheltered housing live an ordinary life – they go shopping, cook, tidy up, share duties and learn how to run their own household. They can ask for help from the permanently present coordinator or sheltered housing coach if necessary.
Volunteers also attend sheltered housing to spend their free time with house inhabitants if required. In 2008 we bought a new flat in a panel house which will be used by three inhabitants.
SHELTERED WORKSHOP
In 2008, 13 disabled people were employed in our sheltered workshops. For the majority of our employees, the sheltered workshops offer the only possibility to participate to job market. The conditions that are created here encourage them in a spontaneous way to be more independent, self-sufficient and take responsibility for their decisions.
Under the guidance of skillful tutor-therapists, various products are made here, each having its own characteristic magic – pottery, wood and textile products, bees wax candles, glass works and kaleidoscopes.
TEAROOM – CAFÉ ROLNICKA
Tearoom – café offers employment to 4 people with disabilities. It is also a place which is open to the public. And what can we offer here to you?
A nice non-smoking place, tea from all over the world, nine sorts of coffee, pure natural juices, Indian milk drinks, a children's play area, free Internet access and unbelievably charming (even sometimes a little bit slow) service.
THE NURSERY SCHOOL AND ELEMENTARY SPECIAL SCHOOL AND CRAFT SCHOOL
Our schools offer education to pupils with different types of disabilities from pre-school age (nursery school) to the completion of compulsory education (elementary special school). After that, our pupils can continue their education at craft school. In 2008, Schools were attended by 41 pupils.
PEOPLE IN ROLNICKA
Board
Supervisory board – 7 members met on six occasions, in 2008.
Management board – 5 members (the director and managers) made important decisions during eleven boards meetings. Employees
Rolnicka Center – 31 employees worked in the direct care of participants, management and administration. 20 disabled people were employed in the sheltered workshops and the shletered places.
Schools had 18 employees (15 teachers and 3 administrative and technical workers).
Volunteers
A volunteer is an ordinary man or woman who gives us what is priceless – his or her time. In Rolnicka, volunteers help us during the daily operation of day care center, the sheltered workshops, sheltered housing or tearoom – café or with organizing benefit campaigns and extra events.
During 2008, 241 volunteers worked for Rolnicka.
